The Lucid Dreamer
So, this post is a little delayed due to the numerous issues I had with my old blog and blah blah blah. Anyway, I really wanted to write about my recent shoot, The Lucid Dreamer.
The idea itself came from a conversation I had with my best-friend and fellow photographer Caitlin. We were just drinking Starbucks and catching up and the topic just came up and the more we spoke about the more I wanted to know about the subject as I'd never really heard of it before.
Anyway, after reading about it here I was just consumed by the whole idea of being able to control your subconscious and really delve into your own mind. Apparently it's a technique that is scientifically proven (according to wiki). Anyway, after reading about it and discussing further with Caitlin the idea for this shoot just hit me like a tonne of bricks and I knew I had to shoot it that day.
So Caitlin and I went back to her house and picked up her old mattress and Danny gathered the rest of the props and set off for the forest. It was such a struggle to get the mattress in the car and Danny had to just squeeze in on top of it; probably the most entertaining car journey I've ever had.
So we got to the forest and got everything set up and I made the right decision of putting my pyjamas on before we left for location this time; I've had to get changed in public way too many times for one year.
Anyway the whole idea of the shoot was to really capture the dream state and how it can be manipulated. I wanted to depict a somewhat normal scenario i.e. the bed in a location that wouldn't be expected which is why I chose the forest. I'm sure for the photographers amongst you that work on location you'll understand where I'm coming from when I say I just feel at home when I'm in the forest or a field?
Originally I wanted to create a composite with pillows falling around the frame to really emphasise the dream state but it just wasn't working and I found myself having to brain storm other ideas quickly before anymore worried dog-walkers called the police or a psychiatric ward...
I decided to stick with the composite idea but instead have hands coming from under the bed and pillow to create a darker atmosphere and one that suggested the place in which I've found myself whilst in this lucid state wasn't one to enjoy.
Oh my, I feel like I could keep writing and I feel like I haven't explained this properly but hey, it's like my second post so bare with me, I'm hoping these will get more interesting and stuff. But yeah, here's a couple more outtakes and the final image for you which you can also see on Flickr!
I hope I haven't bored you all to death and feel free to share this around; I really want to stick to this; I'm not much of a writer so I'm hoping this will help!

Take Two
So it was back on new years eve I decided to create a blog to take a more in depth approach to all of the behind the scenes images and stories behind the work that I create. Unfortunately I seemed to have somehow set-up that entire blog with an e-mail address that according to hotmail, does not exist.
All is not lost as there wasn't much on there but it just means that I've missed a lot of posts that I have wanted to share with you all but never mind. My only solution was to create a new blog entirely and start over.
So, this is just an extremely quick post to explain why I haven't been posting on my old blog and that this now, will be where you will be able to read all about my shoots and view a lot more behind the scenes work and outtakes.
Ps - I will at some point make this whole thing a little more aesthetically pleasing once I've got all of the information etc. sorted. Thank you for being so wonderful and patient as always.
